Alignment (corporate). The recurring work used to reconcile plans, meanings, priorities and decisions across boundaries whose authority or contracts remain unsettled. Shared understanding remains necessary; standing negotiation around ordinary change is the anti-pattern. See Chapters 2 and 3.

Alignment-industrial complex. The internal and external economy of roles, meetings, programmes, frameworks and advisory work that makes fragmented authority survivable and therefore helps it persist. No shared intent among participants is implied. See Chapter 2.
